The San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission has unanimously approved a 10-year permit extension for the Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival at golden gate park
The three-day arts-and-music festival is an annual pop culture major attraction in San Francisco that draws over 200,000 people to Golden Gate Park and infuses tens of millions of dollars into the local economy.
The event is also provides a huge boost for the Recreation and Park Department, which made nearly $3.4 million last year in rent and other fees associated with the event. The current active permit expires in 2021, so the extension would set the terms between San Francisco and Outside Lands’ organizer, Another Planet Entertainment, through 2031. It was of high importance to get this deal completed quickly due to Another Planet needing a three-year window to line up artists and equipment in advance.
So for the 200,000 of you music lovers need not worry, the epic music festival is here to stay.
